Why We Built It
The Story Behind BuilderStudio
As a former design-builder, our founder Cory Kreith lived the daily pressures builders face—delays from disconnected designers, clients walking away with plans, and the endless hours spent babysitting the design process just to protect budget and builder standards. In 1998, a particularly frustrating project highlighted how broken the process was: a client and their hired designer couldn’t agree on anything—budget, size, inclusions. The designer pushed for aesthetic preferences without considering the practical realities of building. It wasn’t collaboration—it was chaos. Hiring an in-house designer wasn’t realistic, so Cory did what most builders do—he took it on himself. Those late nights designing, emailing, revising, and explaining came at the cost of business growth, family time, and quality of life. That experience is exactly why we built BuilderStudio.
